I’m loving Hermès right now. Before this year they weren’t on my radar a huge amount, despite having the occasional decent piece. Now though? First the Carre H, a watch I want, now the Slim d’Hermès GMT, a watch I need. Yes, the collection’s been around for a while, but this version is by far the finest to date.

Slightly less complicated than the Quantième Perpétuel and L’heure Impatiente, it’s nonetheless a great watch mechanically and a phenomenal one to look at. It’s unusual dial layout is eccentric to say the least with the silvered GMT dial positively crazed. The hand jumps around from number to number and can be set with the 10 o’clock pusher. That it’s a surprisingly elegant, ultra-thin watch is just icing on the cake.
