Hermès Arceau Chono Titane

Hermes Arceau Chono Titane

Unlike far too many fashion houses, Hermès take their watches seriously. Yet where Chanel have the J12 and more flying tourbillons than can possibly make sense and Louis Vuitton have their *shudder* connected watch, Hermès have the Arceau.

Hermes Arceau Chono Titane

Designed by artist Henri d’Origny, looking at the Arceau makes you want to instinctively turn your head for the slanted numerals to make sense. Quick tip: they still won’t. Regardless of its visual trickery however, the latest edition of the Arceau chronograph in titanium is a painfully cool watch, part vintage pocket watch, part pure Hermès whimsy. At under £3,800, it’s also that rarest of Hermès products: a good price; www.hermes.com

Sam Kessler

Legend has it that Sam’s first word was ‘escapement’ and, while he might have started that legend himself, he’s been in the watch world long enough that it makes little difference. As the editor of Oracle Time, he’s our leading man for all things horological – even if he does love yellow dials to a worrying degree. Owns a Pogue; doesn’t own an Oyster Perpetual. Yet.
