Bonhams Goodwood Revival Sale (9th September)
Touring the paddocks at the Goodwood Revival is enough to make you long for a well-oiled machine of your own… and with Bonhams’ coinciding sale you can – provided you can handle them at any rate. This year’s headlines are the fastest of the fast, the meanest of the mean, some of the greatest supercars in the world. It’s the second time ever you could get your hands on the 2017 LaFerrari Aperta for a cool £5 million. If that’s a little too intense you can enter the kiddy pool with the 2015 coupe version for a paltry £2.3 million. There are a few more historic cars – the the ex-Alan Mann Racing Team 1968-69 Type Ford P68 F3L Group 6 Endurance Racing Coupé and a 1964 AC/Shelby Competition Cobra stand out – but a pair of LaFerraris? That’s some serious horsepower.
Creating a Stage: The Collection of Marsha and Robin Williams (29th September – 4th October)
You read that right: the late, legendary Robin Williams’ collection of art, memorabilia and other collector’s pieces is coming to auction. Amassed by both he and his wife over 20 years and ranging from Banksy street art to Mrs Doubtfire nostalgia, it’s an eclectic insight into one of the great comedic actors in film history. We’re especially interested in Robin’s own watch collection of some 40-odd pieces. You can see the collection as a whole at Sotheby’s New York from 29th September before its sale on 4th October. All proceeds go to the charities supported by the couple, so dig deep.
