There are plenty of phones out there that try to fuse luxury and technology – Vertu, Porsche Design and those awful gold-drenched ones from Amousou to name a few. Trust Lamborghini however to take it a step further.
To be more accurate, it’s not Lamborghini the car makers but Tonino Lamborghini the lifestyle brand. Not that there’s much of an aesthetic difference; Tonino’s style is directly influenced by the extreme performance of Aventadors and Huracans, using their distinct sharp lines and uncompromising nature.
The Alpha-One smartphone is no different. It’s thankfully a little less extreme than some of the previous Lamborghini phones, going the more reserved route we expect from Vertu, but there are still some extreme features.
For one, it uses the same kind of liquid metal OMEGA make many of their bezels out of, stronger even than titanium. For another, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor is the cellular equivalent of a Lamborghini V12 when it comes to speed (though fortunately nowhere near as loud).
The actual operating system is Tonino Lamborghini’s own twist on the Android Nugat system, nothing ground-breaking but a Tuscan country mile better than your bog-standard handset. It has everything you’re used to and certainly makes the most of that aforementioned processor, the Dolby Atmos sound system and 20-megapixel camera.
There’s also a Dual-SIM which, though a relatively small feature, is incredibly useful if you happen to be travelling a lot, as someone that can afford the Alpha-One’s fittingly high price tag is likely to. Just as useful and far more impressively, the phone also has a battery life of 314 hours on standby.
If it’s more practical than remarkable inside, the Alpha-One is most definitely a statement without. Draped in black leather – Italian of course – which contrasts with the hints of rose gold and the stark blackness of the liquid metal. It’s more than a little bit satisfying in the palm of your hand and worthy of both the Tonino Lamborghini nameplate and the iconic raging bull itself;
