Rolex has hosted a charity auction in partnership with Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo to raise money for the Federer Foundation and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Re:wild project. Under the hammer were four unique piece Rolex Cosmograph Daytonas dedicated to each of the four seasons. Together, the four watches raised £37.3 million – the buyer’s premium was also waived for this auction with all proceeds going to the charities.
The Cosmograph Daytona Winter is a platinum reference with an opal and lapis lazuli dial paired with a fuchsia gradient sapphire bezel. Like all four unique pieces, it’s powered by the calibre 4131 Superlative Chronometer with 72-hour power reserve. It sold for £10 million.
Second is the Cosmograph Daytona Spring, a striking white gold version with a vivid purple and green display. The dial is made from chrysoprase (a type of green quartz) with lepidolite chronograph subdials – a purple stone that matches the purple sapphire bezel. It sold for £6.8 million.
Next is Cosmograph Daytona Summer in Everose gold with a turquoise dial and heart of ruby chronograph counters. It has pink sapphire hour markers that pair with the pink sapphire bezel while contrasting to the white tone of the brilliant cut diamonds across the case and lugs. It sold at £10.3 million.
Last is Cosmograph Daytona Autumn, which is pumpkin tones of orange and green. The dial is made from mookaite (an Australian type of jasper) paired with chrysoprase subdials. The hour markers and bezel use green tourmaline. The colder tones of the green gems pairs with the yellow gold case. It sold for £10.2 million.
