This weekend was dominated by British Watchmaker’s Day. But because one day of celebrating homegrown horology just isn’t enough, we teamed up with our friends at Studio Underd0g to host an event the evening before.
Oracle Time readers were invited to Shoreditch’s sleek Curve Club to celebrate the hyped watch brand’s Assembled in Britain campaign. The campaign video was front and centre, along with Sam Bland, the starring watchmaker behind the now famous orange boots.
To hear about the inspirations not just behind the video, the entire inspiration behind brining assembly back to Britain, our editor Sam Kessler (the second most famous Sam in the room) introduced Studio Underd0g founder Richard Benc and campaign director Andrew Morgan to talk about why it matters.
It’s a subject we went into some depth about in our last issue, so check that out here. But this was also the first opportunity for people to get hands-on with the campaign’s real star, the D0ghouse limited edition Guava. Sign up to visit Studio Underd0g’s assembly and this is what you will have the opportunity to buy.
The rest of the evening was spent sampling guava-laced cocktails and some fantastic canapes, with plenty of watch chat, British and otherwise and some limited edition Studio Underd0g totes. Guests were also the first to be able to sign up to the brand’s British Watchmakers’ Day hand-setting experience. Though for a few of the late leavers, the next morning probably wasn’t conducive to the fine art of watchmaking.
