The Gerald Charles Masterlink Boutique Edition, is a limited edition timepiece (precise numbers have not been published) available exclusively at Gerald Charles boutiques. This watch is a refined, darker interpretation of the Masterlink collection from 2024, an asymmetric integrated bracelet watch that showcases a contemporary take on the Maestro case.
Starting with the case of the Masterlink Boutique Edition, it measures 38mm in diameter and 7.99mm in thickness, creating a relatively slim profile that works well in conjunction with the integrated bracelet. It’s crafted from 316L stainless steel and features a proprietary Darkblast® finish, which gives the watch a deep, matte appearance – similar to bead blasting but with a darker colour to the finish. The screw-down crown is positioned on the right side at 3 o’clock and is decorated with a Clous de Paris finish.

The dial of the Masterlink Boutique Edition is made from two layers, a solid base with vertical bars across its length creating a more intense three-dimensional quality than equivalent stamping or engraving techniques. It’s black with a sunray finish to enhance the verticality of the dial thanks to the dynamic interplay of light. The dial includes a white minute railway track and rhodium-plated baton indexes along with baton hands featuring Super-LumiNova inserts to ensure visibility in low light conditions.

Inside the watch, the in-house calibre GCA1000 powers the Masterlink Boutique Edition. This automatic movement features a micro-rotor decorated with a honeycomb pattern, providing a power reserve of 50-hours when fully wound. The movement is ultra-thin, measuring only 2.67mm in thickness, and includes 29 jewels.
The watch comes with a 316L stainless steel bracelet, which is also finished with the Darkblast® technique. It has a very distinctive look to it due to the asymmetric design, featuring flat links on one half and curved links on the other, to match the shape of the case and lugs. The bracelet is available in three sizes and includes a micro-link system for finer adjustments. It secures with a folding clasp engraved with ‘GC’.

This limited edition watch is available exclusively at the JR Nagoya Takashimaya boutique and the Gerald Charles Atelier in Geneva. It’s also price on request, adding to its exclusivity. I like the relatively understated design of this watch compared to some of the more bombastic watches we’ve seen from Gerald Charles recently. The dark finish and vertical layering of the dial work really well together.
