Tag Heuer Launch Updated Carrera Glassbox Chronograph at 41mm

LVMH Watch Week is already setting the tone for the year ahead. With dozens of releases revealed this week, attention today turns to Tag Heuer’s powerful continuation of one their most celebrated icons, the Carrera Glassbox Chronograph. The new timepiece extends the Glassbox family, offering an alternative case size at 41mm, alongside fresh dial colours all while remaining deeply rooted in Jack Heuer’s original vision.

While this new release retains the Carrera outline that collectors have come to know and love, from its prominent, highly domed sapphire crystal to its impressive 80-hour power reserve, its most significant update becomes apparent once on the wrist. The move from the previous Carrera’s 39mm case to this new 41mm format results in a watch that makes more of a statement, without drifting too far from what has always made the Carrera what it is.

The new 41mm edition is available in three colours. The signature blue offers a subtle yet confident pop of colour, while the teal green brings a fresh, more distinctive tone. For those drawn to Tag Heuer’s racing roots, the black dial with subtle red accents adds a more daring edge and is a faithful reflection of the motorsport heritage.

The dial layout is clean and uncluttered, allowing the three chronograph counters to take visual priority. The three-dimensional flange and monochromatic counters play with light to create depth and a clean aesthetic making the watch easy to read from first glance.

Housed inside the 41mm steel case is Tag Heuer’s TH20-01 movement. With an 80-hour power reserve, vertical clutch and column wheel, it delivers flawless chronograph engagement and precision. The transparent sapphire caseback allows a clear view of the into the heart of the timepiece, adding an extra layer of interest for those who enjoy seeing the mechanics at work, something I personally appreciate.

The Carrera Glassbox Chronograph is priced at £6,700, which is slightly pricier than the standard Carrera Glassbox models, however this feels appropriate given that the new model offers an increased case size and employs a slightly different movement. The three new timepieces are designed with the roots of the Carrera in mind and adapted for those who enjoy larger watches.
