Back in July Doxa launched the SUB 750T Clive Cussler Edition, bringing with it the revival of the SUB 750T, a sub-collection that made a splash in the early 2000s. However, one limited edition does not a true revival make. Now, at Geneva Watch Days, Doxa have announced a full SUB 750T collection.
The SUB 750T is, in the politest terms, a big boy. It measures a huge 45mm x 47mm x 11.95mm. Rightfully earning a spot as Doxa’s largest timepiece – though it is markedly slimmer than its original 14mm thick version. With this bold size, it immediately becomes one of the most macho watches in the Doxa range with equally big, oversize hour markers and broad hands.

A key reason for the size is to ensure a high level of legibility in the darkest of underwater conditions. That’s because it features a water resistance of 750m, making it a saturation diver capable of spending days at a time in pressurised environments and underwater. A tool watch in the truest sense. While we’re on the topic of pressure, the bezel features split scales, one of which being a DT Max scale – a diving scale that tells you how long you can spend at certain depths and then resurface without needing decompression stops.

For the core collection, the SUB 750T is available in all eight of Doxa’s well established colours. Professional Orange, Sharkhunter Black, Whitepearl White, Searambler Silver Grey, Caribbean Navy Blue, Divingstar Yellow, Aquamarine Turquoise, and Sea Emerald Dark Green. I’m traditionally a Professional Orange enjoyer, but considering that the Clive Cussler edition did that colour with more style and character, I think I actually prefer the clarity of the Sharkhunter Black.

Powering the collection is the Sellita SW300 with 56-hour power reserve. As I remarked when covering the Clive Cussler version, Doxa have typically been one of the last few brands not to disclose the movements in their watches and so it’s great that they’ve announced it here. I hope this is a trend that continues because in the modern watch world, there’s no reason not to have as much clarity as possible.

The SUB 750T is priced at £2,450 on a colour matched rubber strap and £2,490 on steel bracelet. I like the look of the watch on both but given the size of the watch, the extra comfort of the rubber strap is very welcome. While at such a large size, this watch won’t be for everyone, I really like it as an expression of the core Doxa design tenets.
