Bürgenstock isn’t just a hotel launch; it’s hard to even call it a resort. The vast £440 million project, finally opened after nine years of planning and construction, is a destination unto itself. Building on a location that dates back to 1879, from which a few historical elements remain, the resort consists of four individual hotels and nearly 70 residences. And a 10,000sqm Alpine spa, as well as 12 restaurants and bars. It’s spectacular in both size and scope and, given that the backers behind it were responsible for the remodelling of the legendary Savoy, we’re expecting great things from Switzerland’s most important launch this decade; www.buergenstock.ch
