Oris Unveil Divers Sixty-Five 40mm Green Gradient for 2024

Oris Divers Sixty-Five Date Forest Green

A watch I have never managed to get out of my mind since I first saw it is the Oris ProPilot Okavango Delta edition from 2021. The combination of the textured dial with green gradient colour alongside the practical pilot’s watch case appealed to me immensely. Alas it was a limited edition. Now though, Oris’ new Divers Sixty-Five 40mm in green brings back elements of the Okavango in a non-limited, dive watch edition.

The most apparent similarity is obviously the dial, as the Divers Sixty-Five 40mm has a green gradient that shifts from a yellow-ish tone in the centre to a dark olive around the periphery and bezel. It makes for a vibrant dial but one that isn’t too intense. There isn’t the visual impact of emerald or the rich quality of a forest green, instead it’s much more calming and relaxed. Like the warm rolling hills of Tuscany or a Mediterranean island. Although technically it’s inspired by the forested flanks of the Swiss valley Oris call home.

Beyond the summer ready colours of the dial and bezel, this is a fairly typical take on the Divers Sixty-Five. Its steel case measures 40mm in diameter and it has 100m water resistance. You can easily make the argument that 100m is very low water resistance for a dive watch and you would be correct. The counter argument is that as a skin diver, the watch is only designed for use around the surface of the water so an extreme depth rating isn’t necessary for its purpose.

Housed inside the Divers Sixty-Five 40mm with green gradient’s case is the Oris 733 automatic calibre. It has a 41-hour power reserve, which is solid enough despite being dwarfed by the capabilities of the Oris Calibre 400 that was used in the recent 38mm model. Fortunately, the 733 does come with some advantages – largely the fact it’s significantly more accessible as the Divers Sixty-Five 40mm has a price of £2,250. That’s similar to the existing steel, 40mm date models on bracelet.
