Due to their haute horology nature, tourbillon are often too pricy for most collectors. CODE41 aim to change that by introducing their first ever tourbillon wristwatch, the T360 Tourbillon. It also happens to be their most customisable wristwatch to date and introduces a new case at the same time.

CODE41, for those unfamiliar, are a community focussed brand who create watches with industrial and technical good looks. What that means for the T360 Tourbillon is that every aspect of its design, from the colour options available to the style of the tourbillon itself was voted on and approved by the thousands of people in the CODE41 community. Fortunately, they have good taste.

As the tourbillon is very much the focal point of this new piece, let’s start there. It’s located in prime position at 6 o’clock on the dial and is entirely visible thanks to the skeletonised display. Tourbillons are designed to alleviate the impact of gravity on the mechanism of a watch in order to ensure a high accuracy over time, which is something the T360 achieves with a deviation of just +/-5 seconds per day. It also has a stellar 105-hour power reserve and has been developed and assembled entirely in Switzerland, as well as being tested to above industry standards.

However, the tourbillon does more than maintain accuracy. You can also use it to keep track of the seconds due to the fact that it rotates once per minute and has a seconds hand built into its cage bridges. Essentially, this allows it to function as a small seconds subdial making it an integral part of the time display and not just an aesthetic and mechanical consideration. Speaking of the display, the T360 is a time only model with central hours and minutes and the aforementioned tourbillon small seconds.

Aesthetically, the display follows CODE41’s normal design principles in a skeletonised format. That means it has plenty of sharp angles and facetted edges that give it a distinctly modern appearance. There are five different colour combinations for the hands and dial (blue, black red, black orange, black blue and rainbow) that in combination with the choice of a rubber, leather or steel strap and the fact there are two case designs available makes the T360 Tourbillon CODE41’s most customisable watch to date.
Two case designs? Yes, that’s right. The T360 Tourbillon is available in either the NativeDNA case that was first released in 2016 or a brand-new case that is debuting alongside the tourbillon called the Stratom. Both cases measure 42mm in diameter and are made from super lightweight and durable titanium. The major difference between them is the shape.

NativeDNA
The NativeDNA is the more traditional of the two with a circular bezel atop a layered cushion body while the Stratom does away with the bezel to give more emphasis to the body itself. The Stratom is also not quite a cushion shape as the sides have been straightened out slightly to make it more of a curvy, irregular octagon. Although more noticeable than that is the fact it has four screws on display. When you put it all together and consider the case as a whole, what we have here is a hyper modern take on classic 1970s sports luxe design.

Stratom
As for price, it very much depends on which combination of colour, case and strap you opt for. However, CODE41’s aim from the beginning was to offer a tourbillon for less than £10,000, which they have achieved. The NativeDNA T360 Tourbillon on leather strap is £9,590. Pre-orders open from right now, April 19 and close on May 17. Don’t miss out.
