Junghans Meister Chronoscope Goes Green with Fresh Colourway

Germany is famous for many exports ranging from luxury cars to bratwurst but one of the most influential exports is actually a stylistic one, that of German minimalism. This is a style exemplified by brands like Nomos Glashütte with watches like the Tangente and Junghans with the Meister series. In fact, Junghans are expanding the Meister collection with a fresh Meister Chronoscope colourway in green.

The Meister Chronoscope is an intriguing timepiece because it has a domed dial, creating a surface that explores the impact of shape in interesting ways, as is typical of minimalist design. Of course, the trio of chronograph counters and day-date function provided by the automatic calibre J880.1 means that the watch is far from minimal in its functionality. However, all of that has been explored on previous models and what’s new is the rich green tone.

Junghans Meister Chronoscop

Green has been in the ascendancy for a while now in watchmaking circles and while turquoise is making a play for being the trendiest colour of 2022, I think on balance green continues to be the most popular. On the Junghans Meister Chronoscope it has a rich forest tone influenced by the Black Forest, where Junghans has their base of operations. Because of the watch’s domed dial and sunray brushed finish, the green seems to shift colour slightly depending on the angle you view it from in a pleasing way.

The Junghans Meister Chronoscope is available with German or English text and is priced at €2,040 (approx. £1,790). It’s also presented on an ostrich leather strap.
