Christopher Ward Military Collection Series 2 Reinvents Modern Favourites

Christopher Ward C65 Series 2 Military Collection

Christopher Ward’s 2019 Military Collection, now known as Series 1, was the debut of some of their most popular watches. The C65 Sandhurst in particular is a well-regarded timepiece, loved for its vintage 38mm sizing and field watch simplicity. Now though, the Christopher Ward Military Collection Series 2 is providing aesthetic refinements to the original watches.

Christopher Ward Military Collection Series 2 C65 Sandhurst Stainless Steel and Bronze

The C65 Sandhurst Series 2 has been barely touched. In fact, the largest change is to the hands, which now have Christopher Ward’s modern arrowhead and brushed finish. Additionally, the C65 Sandhurst Series 2 is also available in bronze for the first time, giving it a retro air and the ability to develop a patina.

Next up to receive a makeover is the C65 Cranwell Series 2, another field watch, albeit one meant for the cockpit. This one has had a more substantial update modelled on the Jaeger-LeCoultre Mark XI 6B/346. Its case has been reduced to 38mm in diameter and dial has been redesigned in line with classic pilot’s watches, putting legibility front and centre.

Christopher Ward C65 Dartmouth Series 2 Military Collection

Lastly there’s the C65 Dartmouth Series 2, which is a dive watch, rounding out the trio of land, air and sea. Its 41mm proportions have been maintained from the series 1 but its dial and bezel have been upgraded. The dial has undergone the biggest change as it’s now fully lumed, creating a vibrant glowing disc in blue with green indexes and hands, giving superb legibility underwater. As for the bezel, that has a sapphire crystal insert making it extremely scratch resistant.

All of the Christopher Ward Military Collection Series 2 watches house the Sellita SW200 automatic calibre with 38-hour power reserve. It might not be as impressive as their in house SH21 movement, used in watches like the C60 Concept, with a 120-hour power reserve. But hey, at least the Sellita number allows them to retain CW’s signature value for money with the C65 Sandhurst Steel and C65 Cranwell starting at £895, the C65 Dartmouth starting at £950 and C65 Sandhurst Bronze starting at £995.
