Singer Reimagined’s Track 1 chronograph is a pretty insane piece of horology, even winning an award at the GPHG in its debut year, 2018. Four years later, the collection has been expanded to include a handful of fun and thematic limited editions, the most striking of which is the skeletonised Track 1 SKLT. Originally released with a gold case, Singer have now launched the Track 1 SKLT Carbon.
The new carbon case adds a dramatic aesthetic to the piece, darker and more serious. The striations of the forged carbon fibre add shape and texture to the tonneau case, making the curve of its surface more pronounced. However, it does retain the proportions of the original with a 43mm diameter and 15mm thickness. Capping off the case is a polished black bezel that adds a bit of shine to the predominantly matte piece.

What makes the Track 1 SKLT Carbon seriously cool is its skeletonised dial. Skeletonisation can make even the most basic calibre interesting to look at, so skeletonising the complex Singer Calibre 6361 AgenGraphe presents a visual feast. It’s an automatic movement with 60-hour power reserve but the rotor sits between the movement and the dial. That means you can see it rotating from the dial side, not through the exhibition caseback as is customary.

As for how you read the time with this watch, it has hour and minute discs that rotate around the circumference of the dial, a marker at 6 o’clock signifies the time. There are then three central chronograph hands that relate to hours, minutes and seconds that work in conjunction with an inner tachymeter scale and a base 60 scale floating on sapphire crystal above gold spokes. The chronograph is started, stopped and reset using two pushers mounted bullhead style on either side of the strap.
All Track 1s are limited editions and the the Singer Reimagined Track 1 SKLT Carbon is no different. It’s limited to 25 pieces at a price of CHF 60,000 (approx. £52,350). The combination of high tech materials and GPHG winning mechanics certainly justify it.
